Spend a Saturday morning at Van Vleck!   An environmental educator will be on-hand at the Van Vleck Education Center from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to discuss various topics relating to nature in and around the gardens.  The program includes a simple craft and supplies for a self-guided activity on the property—all the tools you need for a fun, family excursion. Classes are designed for children ages 4 and up; however, all are welcome.  All children must be supervised by an adult. Rain or shine.

$5 per child ages 4 & up; $10 per family (2 or more children).

Family Guided HIke

Sunday, February 24th

9:00 – 10:00 am

Birds and animals are active all winter long. Come take a walk in the garden and observe the bustling activity of birds and other critters during these very cold months. There are always interesting surprises during this time of year. Please dress for cold temperatures. Bring binoculars if you have them.

Fee: $5 per person for Friends of Van Vleck; $7 per person for general public.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Maple Sugaring

Saturday, March 2nd

SORRY, THIS EVENT IS FULL.

Looking for a super sweet activity the whole family will love? Don’t miss Van Vleck House & Gardens’ annual Maple Sugaring event! Families are invited to learn how to identify a sugar maple tree and discover the steps for turning sap into syrup, focusing on a tapped sugar maple tree in Mother’s Garden.  Program includes a tour and demonstration, and wouldn’t be complete without a maple syrup tasting! Reserve your tour time today. Tour lasts approximately 1 hour. Registration required. Tour is indoors and outdoors so please dress for the weather.

Space is still available in the 2:30 pm session.

$5 per person for Friends of Van Vleck; $10 per person for General Public.

A Sensory Celebration

Saturday, April 13th

1:00 – 4:00 pm

In recognition of Autism Awareness Month, this event invites you to explore the Van Vleck gardens using your senses as your guide. Activity stations will be arranged throughout the property and in the education center focusing on different textures, smells, shapes and colors found in the natural world.  Join us for a stress-free afternoon of garden discovery. Open to families.

Suggested donation of $10 per family.
